FAQ's

  • What’s the difference between talking to a therapist or my best friend/family?

    • A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.”

  • How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

    • Every person has different concerns and goals for counseling; therefore, the process may differ depending on the individual. We tailor our therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

  • Why would I self-pay instead of using insurance benefits?

    • Just to name a few reasons, you’d have more flexibility and privacy. By using insurance benefits, the insurance company may dictate how many sessions you are allowed and would have access to your medical information (e.g, mental health diagnoses and treatment goals).

  • What are the benefits of a doula?

    • Evidence indicates that laboring women who have the support of a doula feel more empowered and supported. They report more positive birth experiences overall.

  • What is a postpartum doula?

    • A postpartum doula assists the family in answering questions and demonstrating ways of caring for a newborn. They can also assist in light housekeeping duties. A postpartum doula can also be vital in recognizing any signs of distress or mental health concerns of the new mother.
